Our instructors work collegially together to draw from decades of their collective aikido experiences to teach aikido in a clean, safe and friendly environment. Instructors are: fully disclosed, first aiders and have been approved by the British Aikido Board (BAB) to teach aikido regardless of age, gender and ethnicity.
MEET THE TEAM:
Rob sensei established Senshin Dojo in 2010, was awarded BAB coach level 1 in 2011. He currently holds the rank of 4th Dan through ADL and Aikido Shimbokukai, affiliated with the Aikikai Foundation and Aikido World Headquarters (Aikikai, Hombu Dojo) in Tokyo, Japan.
In his own words:
I've been fortunate to be taught by a number of great teachers from all styles of aikido, all of which have informed my aikido practice in one way or another. However, only one teacher has had a profound affect on my aikido, that teacher is Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan. On my journey home after my first seminar with Ikeda Sensei, I knew I had to re-evaluate my approach to aikido in order to make it "honest practice". With the guidance and patience of John Burn Sensei (Ikeda Sensei’s senior UK student) I started the slow journey of stripping my aikido back to its fundamentals. This change required retooling the body by changing kata and improving ukemi. I like to say this transition was straightforward, it wasn’t! However, with the support and belief of all the instructors and students at Senshin Dojo, together we made the change for the better. The aikido we now practise is simply awesome!
I continue to travel to practise with students from all styles of aikido as well as bringing distinguished aikidoka (and related arts) to come and share their experiences and expertise with dojo members.
